    Youth Sports not so Green?

I am trying to get kids and parrents to put their plastic bottles/Cans in a recycling container, but I still find them in the trash can. What are some way's to get them to take that extra step to the recycling can?

Are there any programs out there that can help me spread the word? I am into BMX racing and see about 150 people a night @ the track.

    Thanks

    Ed

  • Do you litter organic waste from your car?

Sometimes I toss an apple core when I pass a field.

Peels, shells, and cores are always flying out my windows. I lunch on the go and "fertilize" on the way.

I would hate to set a bad example, so I only toss organic waste if I'm sure no one is looking.

I toss a lot of stuff out the window that isn't food.

I would never toss anything out of the car window, organic or otherwise. Litter is litter is litter.

    To Go Boxes
    Greenopolis Thought Leader

Saturday I went to a wedding.  The dinner was sit down style with a ton of food on each plate.  I was shocked when the serves came around with to go boxes for the guests to take home the leftovers.  This was a very fancy wedding!  I have never seen such a thing.  When I said something to the wait staff they said it reduces the amount of food that goes to waste.  However, these were styrofoam boxes! » read more

    green barn management

I am re-opening a barn for rescued former race horses and want to use as many green and sustainable practices that I can. Can someone recommend resources for how to collect gray water, green manure management practices and any other clean and green ideas?

    Be A Green Consumer
    Greenopolis Founder

In case you weren't aware, September 28th (this Sunday) is Green Consumer Day, a great day to think about your choices as a consumer and consider how they could be greener.

The best way to be a green consumer is not to be a consumer at all. It is easy to get excited about all the new green gadgets and organic products out there. These products may be green, but they will never be as green as the product that isn't made at all, and this is an important thing to keep in mind. The greenest path is to make do with what you have.  » read more

    20 Years Congrats Seventh Generation
    Greenopolis Thought LeaderGreenopolis Founder

This weekend I had the pleasure of attending Seventh Generation's 20th anniversary.  It was truly a remakable event and a testimony to a dedicated group of folks who started a business with the notion of being as green as possible long before "green" entered our lexicon.  They certainly went through a number of trials during their two decades, but they made the transition from money sink to profitable operation and their growth continues.  Good job, Seventh Generation!

    New water!
    Greenopolis Founder

    Hello!

Deer Park and other bottled water companies have cut down on paper and plastic that they use in their bottles. Looks like they know how to go green! Also to help with the constant landfill growth, reuse the bottles by putting fresh tap water in them instead of just recycling them when the bottled water runs out.

    w/ love,

Isn't It Time To Junk Your Junk Mail!
    Greenopolis Thought Leader

It may surprise many of you to learn that the number one thing heading into our landfills on a daily basis here in the US is paper.  That’s right, plain old paper.  Something that is easy to recycle, but instead ends up sitting out eternity in the middle of some garbage tomb where 50 years from now it will still be completely legible.

Doesn’t make sense does it? » read more
