CFLs

This came across my desk from the EPA today:

" Today is the 4th annual Energy Star "Change a Light" Day, and more than 1.8 million Americans have pledged to change at least one light at home to an Energy Star qualified light.

I hope everyone out there is using CFL bulbs in their homes. We've switched most of our lamps to CFL bulbs in the Greene house, and I thought I would come onto Greenopolis and shed some "light" on the subject (sorry).

CFL stands for compact fluorescent lamp, and because these bulbs are fluorescent, they result in huge energy savings. Currently they are slightly more expensive than traditional incandescent bulbs, but they can last ten times longer, and only use around 20% of the energy. I use a brand of cfl (e-bulb)from Total Lighting that is super bright, 5500 deg, 10,000 hr rated , full spectrum, shaped like a std bulb so it fits in any lamp. em interest to greg.kraushaar@usfamily.net

One-by-one, I'm replacing all my incandescent light blubs with their compact fluorescents (CFLs) cousins. Until now I didn't think about all the different types CFLs we need. For instance, I bought six 75 watt CFLs to use in my chandeleir and found the dimmer would not work.
