For several years now, residents of Cape Cod and all of New England have been talking about the Cape Wind project. This project calls for the construction of 130 offshore wind turbines in a shallow area between the Cape, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. The proposed plan, which is still struggling to obtain permits and approvals, could potentially supply three-quarters of the Cape and Islands' electricity needs.

As temperatures start to fall in the cooler parts of the country, some of us are starting to think (panic) about high home heating costs. I wanted to share some strategies with you for lowering those home heating bills to save you money and help the environment as well. Try some of them out, and let us know if you see a difference in your home!
1. Insulate. Unless your house is the tightest, most efficient
home on the block (if it is, you probably don't these tips), chances
are your home loses a lot of heat through your attic (hot air rises,
remember?). » read more

I was asked by someone the other day about why I was not smart enough to get on the Drill, Baby, Drill bandwagon. Couldn't I see the logic that drilling for more oil was going to drive prices down and help our economy. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

Right now, the House of Representatives is debating whether or not the ban should be lifted on offshore drilling. They plan to vote on this issue later today (Tuesday). If the ban is lifted, states would be given the option of allowing drilling between 50 and 100 miles from shore, and outside of 100 miles, everything will be fair game.
As gas prices have risen over the past few years, more and more people have been calling for offshore drilling. » read more

Hooray! I have finally moved closer to work!
I now live in the way-hip city of Royal Oak and have therefore increased my awesomeness factor by about a bazillion. True that.
Here's the deal:
In one fell swoop, I managed to cut my drive from from 17 miles (each way) to 6. That, by the way, means I now get to sleep in until the time I used to leave for work.
Uber cool.

Our "War President" has not only sent thousands to die and be killed in the current oil war, but he seems to be bound and determined to exterminate other species residing on our planet as well for oil. Could it be that part of the reason he has denied global warming is that it will be much easier to drill for oil if the ice caps have melted???? Think about it!!!

When it comes to the polar bear, it's darned if you do and darned if you don't for the Bush White House. Back in March, a group of environmental activism organizations, led by Greenpeace and the NRDC, sued the Bush administration for failing to act regarding the situation of the polar bear. They pushed for the bear to be listed as an endangered species, and demanded a decision from the White House.

With gas prices seeing their first break in months, it would appear on the surface to be a positive thing for McCain. If this were November, it would be. The US Presidential Election is still months away, and gas prices will rise again. Count on it.

Thank you to all who contacted their representative and senator last week!!! It was amazing how Bush just went quiet after last Wednesday. Apparently he's on the move again, and EDF has mobilized a petition--the text of which I wanted to share.
Coming soon I will have a cost analysis of the mobilization required after Pearl Harbor was attacked in '41.

When anyone invests $300 million dollars into promoting alternative energy sources, the Democrats usually take notice. When that person is an oil tycoon, brother of a "Bush Pioneer", and someone who was a major contributor to the 2004 Swift Boat ads, that person gets an invitation from Nancy Pelosi to speak before the
House Democratic Caucus.
