A terrific article in the NY Times this morning on capturing wind energy in the form of compressed air. One issue with wind is that it only produces energy when it is blowing. Storing the excess in batteries or using it to turn sea water into hydrogen to drive fuel cells are some alternatives.

But storing the wind in the form of compressed air that can then be released later to drive power generators when and where it's needed most is a new twist.

    Wind Energy

    Hi Everybody!

I recently built a small scale wind turbine from scratch. It was a fun project and it actually worked! I know there are some small tubines that can generate a good 35 watts for about $80. Also I found this wind turbine that generates energy for 750,000 homes that takes up less than 100 acres. I know that sounds like a lot, but compared to 750,000 homes, it's practically nothing. If you find anything about cheap wind turbines, or have something to say about wind energy, please post.
