Creating Cultural Change through Small Group Dialogue:

Programs to Inspire Action, Build Community and Empower Leaders

*Are you looking to build real-life skills as a student?

*Are you a faculty or staff member at a university who cares about the planet and wants to engage others on your campus in environmental issues?

Since 1993, the Northwest Earth Institute (a non-profit based in Portland, Oregon) has engaged over 1000,000 citizens in small group dialogue via a series of seven study guides on Voluntary Simplicity, Discovering a Sense of Place, Choices for Sustainable Living, Global Warming, Menu for the Future, Deep Ecology and Healthy Children-Healthy Planet.

These study guides, designed for for small groups, are available to those who wish to foster dialogue in universities, colleges, community colleges, workplaces, homes, libraries, centers of faith, neighborhoods and community centers throughout North America.

Each guide contains a series of articles, book excerpts and discussion questions for the group to follow.  Groups are self-facilitated, meeting from on your campus as part of a student organization, a course, sustainability or green team or with staff, faculty and other students.  No outside facilitator is needed.

The attachment includes a complete listing of discussion course programs and descriptions of each course.

Please contact Dani Dennenberg, Director of Organizational and Higher Education Partnerships at daniella@nwei.org or 503-222-0327 if you would like to bring one of our transformative discussion courses to your campus.

Join the ranks of Iowa State University, Marquette University, the Center for Ecological Living and Learning, Virginia Tech, University of Colorado, Portland State University and many more campuses who have already taken these steps!
