How do I play Oceanopolis? In Oceanopolis - just like in the real world - there are huge "garbage patches" of plastic floating around the world. Some of these patches, called "gyres" are as big as the state of Texas and cause great harm to wildlife and overall health of our oceans. As the garbage comes ashore on your island, you must pick up the trash and recycle it in the Greenopolis Recycling Kiosk located on each island. You see, plastic and aluminum aren’t the cause of the gyres, it’s the way we dispose of these items when we’re finished with them. If we recycled everything we used, there would be no plastic to end up in the oceans. As you recycle your items, you earn coins that can be used to purchase items to create food for your health, to collect water and generally improve your island with huts and flowers and trees. Once you’ve built your island to your liking, you can buy another island and work to improve it, as well. But be careful, because you’ll then be responsible for keeping both islands clean and healthy. Friendship is an important part of Oceanopolis, and you should be working with your friends to help make your island - and our world - a better place. Friends can share clean water, keep each others’ islands clean, send gifts and challenges and even share a margarita on the beach! Other important parts of Oceanopolis are animal rescues, upcycling jewelry, earning badges and more. When your pockets (or backpack) are full, you have to go to the Greenpolis Recycling Kiosk. Clicking the Kiosk will bring up the navigation screen and you simply walk through the steps to recycle your items. You will recycle 10 items at a time, so if you have less than 10 of any item, you’ll have to wait until you’ve picked up more. Once you’ve finished recycling, you get a receipt that shows you how many coins you’ve earned. From time to time, some of our partners in making the world a better place will present you with "Special Offers" you can print and use to save money on real world goods and services. How does clean water work in Oceanopolis? How can I get more water? To send a request for clean water, go to your "Friends Bar" at the bottom of the game and click a friend’s face and choose "Send message" from the pop-up menu. To share water with a friend, go to your "Friends Bar" at the bottom of the game and click a friend’s face and choose "Send water" from the pop-up menu. How do I stay healthy in Oceanopolis? How do I go to my friend’s island? Once on your friend’s island, you can pick up their trash and recycle it in their Greenopolis Recycling Kiosk for coins. When you’re ready to return to your island, simply click the "Home" button. How do I send a gift to a friend? Some gifts are free, some cost game coins and some special gifts cost real money, it’s up to you which you choose to send. I have a redemption code, where do I enter it? Why do some actions take 24 hours to complete? How can I connect with other Oceanopolis players?
