How To Make A Fruit Fly Catcher Using A Soda Bottle
Fruit flies are a pain. It's not like you'll get two or three, you wind up getting like 200-300. They seem to stick around forever, even when you get rid of the culprit piece of food.
Since I eat a lot of fresh produce, this is a problem that I encounter too frequent for my liking. So I was grateful when I came across this easy to make fruit fly catcher. Much better than any nasty sprays or chemicals. Yuck.
Tools and Materials Needed
1L or 2L soda bottle
Duct tape
Razor
Apple cider vinegar
Instructions on How to Make the Fruit Fly Catcher:
Remove the cap and cut the top 1/4 or so of the soda bottle off.
Pour some apple cider vinegar in the bottom portion of the soda bottle, enough to cover the bottom part and bit more.
Turn the cut off top portion upside down and place inside the bottom half.
The top of the soda bottle shouldn't be touching the apple cider vinegar. If it is, pour some out.
Duct tape the two halves together.
Set it near the problem spot.
My Take on the Project In addition to the hanging planters, this is another great way to reuse soda bottles. It's a quick a simple way to catch those annoying fruit flies without spending money or harmful chemicals and spray.
