We want to reward you for your actions. That's why we created Greenopolis Rewards. You can earn points by recycling in our Greenopolis Recycling Kiosks, blogging and commenting on Greenopolis and by recycling at home in selected cities. These points can then be traded in on coupons for meals, entertainment, discounts and more.
Our Greenopolis Recycling Kiosks are a big part of our commitment to conservation, recycling and tracking waste to resources. This Tracker shows the number of bottles, cans and other waste these machines have collected so far. Check our Kiosk Locator on our home page for a Greenopolis Recycling Kiosks near you.
Besides your birthday, this is the time of the year that you get crazy amounts of greeting cards. They are all nice and give you that warm, fuzzy feeling when you open one. Or is that just me?
After a few weeks of display, what do you do with them? If you're anything like the way I used to be you'd toss them out. No need to anymore. You can repurpose the greeting card and give it a second life as a gift box.
Original project: I saw this project a while ago on the CraftyPod blog.
Tools and Materials Needed • 1 greeting card • Scissors • Ruler or measuring tape • Double sided tape
Instructions on How To Make a Gift Box Using a Greeting Card: • Cut the card in half across the crease. • Choose the side that you want to be the bottom half and cut about 1/8 inch from one long side and one short side. • On the inside part of both cards, measure about 1 inch from the edge length and width wise. If you want a deeper box, cut 2 inches from the edge. • Lightly draw a grid that you can fold over and cut. • Fold the cards towards the inside along the lines drawn. • Hold the card lengthwise and cut along the vertical lines to where the lines intersect. • Put a piece of double sided tape on the flaps. • Fold the box up along the lines and fold in the flaps. • Fold up the end flap so that it sticks to the tape. • Do the same for the other side and the other box. • Place the larger box on top of the smaller.
My Take on the Project Surprisingly, this turned out pretty well and could be much more useful than I had anticipated.
I can see this being used in many ways such as filling it with old tissue paper (that you received from another gift) and filling it with chocolates or jewelry.
Depending on the message on the card, that could be tailored to the recipient as well.
