How To Make a Mobile Using CDs

This is actually a conglomeration of many projects rolled into this one.

Summary:
Aaah... remember back in the days when CDs were the future of music? Of course you do, it was only like 10 years ago. Crazy how this shiny metallic discs are now pretty much obsolete. No need to toss them in the trash though, turn them into a CD Mobile with this simple DIY project.

Tools and Materials Needed:
• 1 large plastic container lid
• The number of CDs will depend on the size of the lid. (I used a small coffee container lid and used three CDs.)
• Scissors
• Drill and 1/16" bit or a nail if the plastic is thin enough.
• Thin string

Instructions on How To Make a Mobile Using CDs:
• Drill three holes into the top of the plastic lid to form a triangle. These will be used to hang the mobile.
• Drill random holes into the container where you want to hang the CDs.
• Cut pieces of string of varying lengths for the CDs.
• Tie each string around the eye of each CD.
• Cut off the extra string that's left over from the knot.
• Thread the other end of the string through the bottom of the plastic lid.
• Tie a knot so the CD doesn't slip through.
• The knot should be on the top side of the lid.
• Do this for all of the CDs.
• Cut three equal lengths of string to tie up the mobile.
• Tie a knot at the end of each one and string up from bottom to top.
• The knot should reach the underside of the lid.
• Tie up the three pieces of equal string.
• Tie two of them into a bow to be able to hang it.

My Take on the Project
For rigging this together, I think the project worked out pretty well. Depending on the CDs used, I'd totally rock one of these in my room. Could also see this working well in a room that gets a lot of natural sunlight.
