Yesterday I said goodbye to the good people at the McDougall
family household and headed south just about 17 miles to Waitsfield where I had
been drawn to a local tweetup
that was organized by @roundbarnfarm
and who also happened to land me a terrific place to stay with the people at American Flatbread which was good
because after riding in the cold rain for a few hours I needed to dry off!
Having lived in Los
Angeles and witnessed the twitter craze many moons ago I was very intrigued to see
the phenomenon of tweeting gain such popularity here in the rural Green
Mountains. But when I thought about the utility in which twitter is most useful
and powerful it occurred to me that Vermont is the absolute perfect place to
not only tweet but to tweetup! The folks here are so engaged and proactive in
creating a solid community that naturally they would gravitate towards an
online mechanism that would bring them closer together.
It was an awesome event
in a beautiful venue and there was
plenty of great music, food and people from local press, orgs, businesses, a guy riding his bike across America ;) and
a great seminar by @chelseagreen
I have and will be sure to make strong connections both
online and off here in Vermont. There
certainly enough great people and a bit of irony involved in the fact that Los
Angeles never drew my attention to twitter yet Vermont certainly does.
Until next time… Take care… And take action!
