See how these recycled board pieces “skate” away with creativity!

I first realized that I thought skateboards were cool when I saw Marty McFly ride one in Back to the Future. Then I saw the Christian Slater movie Gleaming the Cube and was sure that skateboards were going to be around for a while. And they have been, thanks to the X-Games making skateboarding an official sport, and movies like The Lords of Dogtown reminding us just how fun skateboards are to ride. Oh, and because of some guy named Tony Hawk.

Nowadays it’s not only cool to ride skateboards, but it’s also cool to make recycled stuff out of them. These 10 ways that people have recycled skateboards will prove that skateboards may provide one of the hippest recycled products around.

Featured on SkiChair.com, this skateboard chair and ottoman are made from recycled boards and feature legs made from recycled plastics.

2. Cute Heels Made from Recycled Skateboards
These recycled skateboard heels featured on EcoShopper.com were made by a university student that realized the end of a board look a lot like the edge of a high heel shoe.

3. J Ryde Visuals Skateboard Furniture
These recycled skateboard desks, as well as other pieces of recycled skateboard furniture, were made by Seattle designer Jake Ryder.

This tote bag is made from recycled skateboards and is lined with satin. It was created by designer Beck Hickey for her Beck(y) line of products.

These next two pieces come from the Skate Study House, a project that was started by skateboard enthusiasts Pierre Andre Senizergues and Gil Le Bon de LaPointe . The two took the idea from Case Study Houses, which were architectural experiments that defined the “modern home” 1945-1966. The Skate Study House defines what a current modern and innovative home would look like through the eyes of skateboard fans and designers.
