3 Green Transforming Furniture Designs That Are More Than Meets the Eye!

Check out how compact and eco-friendly transforming furniture can save the entire planet some extra space

1It would be extremely cool if the title was referring to furniture that miraculously turned into 50-foot tall robots named Bumblebee and Jazz, but sadly that’s not the case. However, you won’t be completely disappointed to know that the title is actually referring to 3 eco-friendly furniture designs that transform into more than just one design!

Just like the movie Transformers changed the way we thought of animated machines, these designs will change the way you think of your furniture. Here are 3 very cool designs that will add some mean green style to your space:

1. Tagei Convertible Coffee Table
This beautiful coffee table made by Brooklyn designer Akemi Tanaka is crafted from eco-friendly bamboo plywood. The table opens up to reveal a stylish cushion in the middle that can be used as a seat. Thus, you have a space-saving seat for house guests!

2. FlexibleLove Earth 8
This chair, created by the FlexibleLove furniture company, converts from seating one person to up to 16 people! Made from 100% recycled paper and wood waste, it is perfect for both partygoers and single bachelors.

Check out how the design works (yes, the video is in Japanese, but that just makes it even better!)

43.
Nursery Works Studio Crib
Nursery Works is a Los Angeles based company that designs handcrafted furniture made from renewable materials. The main material comes from Paulownia wood, which is fast growing and fire resistant. The company also uses low-VOC finishes, lacquers, and glues, and adds a few formaldehyde-free dyes to eliminate toxins. This studio crib conveniently transforms from a crib, to a changing table, to a toddler daybed and desk.

These 3 transforming pieces of furniture are definitely ranked high in the “cool” category for me, and I hope that they inspire other artists to create more collapsible, recycled material designs.

I’m fairly certain that Optimus Prime would be proud of our efforts.
