We want to reward you for your actions. That's why we created Greenopolis Rewards. You can earn points by recycling in our Greenopolis Recycling Kiosks, blogging and commenting on Greenopolis and by recycling at home in selected cities. These points can then be traded in on coupons for meals, entertainment, discounts and more.
Our Greenopolis Recycling Kiosks are a big part of our commitment to conservation, recycling and tracking waste to resources. This Tracker shows the number of bottles, cans and other waste these machines have collected so far. Check our Kiosk Locator on our home page for a Greenopolis Recycling Kiosks near you.
Vending machines are everywhere. You literally can’t go into a store, a school or even a doctor’s office without seeing a vending machine that dispenses candy, gum, snacks or soda. The Japanese even have vending machines for umbrellas, instant noodles and neckties! So how about making a vending machine that dispenses something good for the planet, like flower seeds? Well look no further. Greenaid is a new guerilla gardening initiative that puts seed bomb vending machines (closely related to the Flower Grenades mentioned in a previous post) into just about any place, including schools, parks, bars and other public places.
Designed by Daniel Philips and Kim Karlsrud for Common Studio, the seed bomb vending machines are the perfect way for people to transform their empty outdoor spaces into lush, green communities. The “seeds” are made from clay, compost and seeds. All you have to do is put some change into the vending machine, grab the small seed bomb and then throw it into an empty space. In just a few weeks flowers will start growing!
Here’s a video that features designers Daniel and Kim talking about the seed bomb vending machines:
Right now the seed bomb vending machines are only available in limited locations. Check out the map below to see if there’s one near you.
If you don’t see a seed bomb vending machine near you, you can purchase or rent one from Greenaid. You can contact Greenaid by sending them an email at info@thecommonstudio.com, or by writing them on their Facebook page.
Seed bombs in vending machines are much better than stale M&Ms or flavorless gumballs any day of the week!
