Find a recycling event near you November 15 to celebrate America Recycles Day

With only two more weeks left until Thanksgiving Day, many of us are more than excited to chow down on some turkey and then “recycle” the leftovers into tasty turkey sandwiches. But did you know that there’s another great day this month that also has to do with recycling? Okay, it has everything to do with recycling! It’s called America Recycles Day.

This Sunday, November 15, 2009, will mark the 12th anniversary of America Recycles Day, a day that encourages Americans to recycle and to purchase recycled products. This day was created by a partnership between Keep America Beautiful, Inc., a volunteer organization that promotes environmental improvement in local communities, and the National Recycling Coalition, a non-profit agency that promotes recycling and waste reduction in North America. Now that you know about America Recycles Day, which happens to be this Sunday, see if you can get involved in a recycling event near you by checking out this list of recycling events in every U.S. state. It may become just as full-filling as Thanksgiving Day.
