A Taiwan-based company known for its success with solar panels releases the first-ever solar powered soccer ball, an innovative design that could help people with bad vision play soccer!

Wouldn’t it be cool to watch the World Cup players kick around a solar-powered soccer ball? Even better than that, wouldn’t you like to have your very own solar powered soccer ball? Thanks to Taiwan-based company Greendix, these scenarios may one day come true!
The folks at Greendix, who previously designed leaf-shaped silicon solar panels that could one day be used for solar forests, have now come up with pentagonal-shaped solar panels for the world’s first ever solar powered soccer ball. The solar cells on the ball soak up the sun’s rays, and this energy is used to power motion sensors and a small audio device that emits a tracking sound. These futuristic-looking solar powered soccer balls could potentially help the visually impaired play soccer one day, and that should make any true soccer fan smile.
If the solar cells on these soccer balls are successful with fans and actually work, just think of all the things that could be built with them. Greendix already hopes to use the solar cell technology as an eco-friendly way to power lamps for children in third world countries. Do you have any other ideas?
