Top 5 Examples of Innovative and Eco-Friendly Grass Art!Instead of composting or throwing away your grass clippings, how about turning them into art?
I’ve been doing a lot of posts about green grass lately, maybe because it’s almost spring and the grass on my lawn is finally starting to grow, and maybe because this month’s theme at Greenopolis is “Spring Greening.” Okay, there are many reasons why I love to see and smell fresh grass. I especially love the fact that you can do so much more with grass than just to mow or compost it…you can turn it into art! Don’t believe me? Well, here are 5 creative and innovative grass art designs that absolutely blew my mind! 1. Tiger Grass Coat This tiger-striped coat, made completely of grass, was first displayed on the catwalk at the London Hippodrome as part of the Lynx Anti-Fur campaign. 2. Grass Gandhi Portrait This living portrait of Gandhi is displayed at Cornell’s Department of Horticulture. It is composed of two 4- by 8-foot living-grass panels. 3. Mona Lisa Lawn Portrait Tania Ledger, a homeowner in Croydon, London, had a 3D art expert mow this portrait of Mona Lisa into her lawn! Although it will grow out soon, she’s still thrilled to see Mona’s mug gazing at her every morning. 4. Green Beatle Danish artist Morten Flyverbom created this “grass covered bug” as part of his ecological art collection. 5. In the Garden of Dreams This dream-like sculpture was made by brother and sister team Sue and Pete Hill. You can see it at the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall. I wish that I was artistic enough to pull off these grass art pieces! Share
