Trashy Lingerie Made from Recycled Aluminum Cans

Boston artist Ingrid Goldbloom Bloch designs a line of panties, bras and bustiers made from recycled cans!

The term “trashy underwear” just doesn’t have the same meaning today as it did ten years ago. Today it can refer to a type of underwear that’s literally made from trash, like in the post Boxer Briefs Made from Recycled Circuit Boards. Ladies, if you’re a bit jealous that men can now wear briefs made from computer parts, then you should be happy to know that an artist from North Carolina designs female lingerie made from recycled cans.  Happy, or maybe a bit concerned.

Ingrid Goldbloom Bloch has designed a line of shiny bras, panties and bustiers which has been dubbed “A Clean Pair for Every Day of the Week.”  The lingerie is made mostly from recycled soda cans, but also includes pieces like rivets and dryer vents, all of which have been woven together by hand. Apparently Ingrid loved going to hardware stores when she was a child, so she turned this passion into artistic expression. On her website she says, “I see the beauty in common objects and hope that others will too. I use everyday items like steel nuts, washers, vinyl plumbing tubing, clamps and coke cans and transform them into something entirely different from their intended purpose.”

I don’ think that a soda can was ever intended to become a bra, but I must say that this trashy line does look cool.

The eco-friendly lingerie has been featured in art shows and sustainable conventions around the world.  You can see the entire gallery of photos on the Trashy Lingerie Flickr Page.
