Today, we're officially opening Oceanopolis, a new social game with real world call-to-actions for recycling and ocean conservation. Oh, and did I mention it is totally fun too?
Oceanopolis is a water world where players convert trash into trash through virtual recycling. And it's completely Kevin Costner-free! Comprised of individual islands, you maintain your surrounding ocean and the habitats of your friends by building a long-term sustainable community. Don't worry, there are no smoke monsters on this island.
The points you earn keeping your island and ocean trash-free can be combined with those earned from our Greenopolis Recycling Kiosks. Located at various locations nationwide--like Whole Foods Markets--you receive points for recycling your waste like cans, glass and plastic bottles. The points you earn from preventing the Pacific Garbage Patch, both in-real-life and online, are honored at thousands of restaurants, theaters and other retail stores.
To show you how serious we are about preventing unnecessary waste, we will donate $1 for each person who tweets the #Oceanopolis hashtag during Seattle's Casual Connect (July 20 to 22). Casual Connect is the educational part of the Casual Games Association, where non-violent games are developed for the general public and families.

All proceeds from your tweets will go directly to Ocean Aid, a non-profit that funds research into fighting ocean pollution with their annual Ocean Aid concert. We hope you will help us gift Ocean Aid as much as $25,000 with our three day tweet-a-thon.
"We're extremely excited to unveil Oceanopolis, a game we feel will not only provide the addictive and engaging interactive experience found in today's top social games, but a reimagining of what it means to participate in the recycling and up-cycling process," said Jeffrey Smith, Sr. Creative Director of Greenopolis.
