Volkswagen has revealed its sixth-generation Jetta, which is roomier and cheaper than its predecessor. And for the first time ever, it's not just a Golf with a trunk. Using its own architecture, the New Compact Sedan comes in one of four engine choices: 1.2-liter, 1.4-liter, 2.0-liter and the all time favorite, a 2.0-liter TDI diesel.
This new version runs about $1,700 cheaper than the current model.
“Today marks a new era for Volkswagen and for Jetta,” Stefan Jacoby, CEO of VW Group of America, said in a statement, adding that the car “is a class-up driving experience” and “sophisticated.”

The reveal was followed by some welcome news. Vdub's most popular car will be available as a hybrid model come 2012. It will use the same hybrid powertrain as found in the Touareg Hybrid which will be available later this year. The Touareg Hybrid was revealed back in March during the Geneva Motor Show.
Following the hybrid Jetta launch, VW is expected to launch the all-electric UP! along with hybrid versions of the Golf and Passat. Personally, I would like a diesel-hybrid. Are you listening VW?
