Each week, we offer another of easy to do tips in each of the four areas where you spend your life; Home, Work, School, and Play. Where do I start? Right where I am, right here, right now.
This week’s “At Work” tip: Adjust That Thermostat !

- Turn down the thermostat in winter and turn it up in the summer . Wear a sweater in winter and take off your jacket and/or tie in summertime.
- Marie Schnitzer, Community Blogger and Director of Solar Services at AWS Truepower says: “While I like to be comfortable, I don’t expect to be able to wear a short sleeve shirt in the winter nor do I want to have to wear a sweater in the summer. Living in the northeast for many decades, my closet has ample clothing to support all seasons, indoors and out. I like wearing my sweaters & scarves in the winter and lighter weight items in the summer both at home and in the office. So, our thermostat is set at a comfortable level with additional layers and or thicker socks in the winter and lets us enjoy a cool drink in the summer in a room where the ice cubes can actually melt!”
- Rachel Amo, of Go Green Beans says: “Most new-fangled thermostats have a nifty “energy saver” setting which allows you to program specific times at which to lower/raise the temps. If you have the old fashioned manual kind, nominate and rotate an "employee of the week" who will be in charge of lowering it (in the winter) and raising it (in the summer) at the end of the day. Make sure to make a big deal about the “dollars and cents saved” due to their diligence, and reward them with a great lunch or other goodies.”
