A Damaged Chopping Block Can Become Beautiful Wall Art

This easy and fun do-it-yourself project turns trash into treasure.

If you've been hanging on to a damaged wooden cutting board -- or even if you find one at a thrift store -- you could make this beautiful wall art for your home. Check out this easy DIY art project from Elizabeth Seward at Planet Green.

She has some great ideas for this funky and fun project, but there are some other ideas that you might want to think about.

Get creative with your painting -- think Paul Klee or Roy Lichtenstein. Or give it a Jackson Pollock splatter treatment.

While gluing on embellishments like buttons, why not add old photos or recipe cards. You could even make a great message board by attaching a piece of quilted fabric or cork to the cutting board.

How about recycling some old paint from your garage into a country scene. Or decoupage a pastoral scene onto your project, using cutouts from fabric or magazines and newspapers headed for the recycle bin. The only limit is your imagination. Trim or paint edges as desired.

My mind is so full of ideas for this project that I can't wait to get started. Now, if only I knew where to find a broken cutting board.
