Aluminum Cans Get Recycled into Hip Pieces of Jewelry

It’s amazing how the process of recycling has been able to create so many cool things for us: recycled comic book bracelets, t-shirts made from recycled plastic bottles, recycled iPhone cases, recycled plastic toothbrushes, recycled rice bag hats, recycled record bowls and so much more.

Jewelry has become a popular item to create from recycled products like glass bottles, plastic and paper. But out of everything that can be recycled, one company has decided to dedicate its artistic talents to creating jewelry made from aluminum cans. Welcome to Funky Recycling!

With a cool name like Funky Recycling you have to be curious to learn more. So I did.
Here’s what I found out:

  • Funky Recycling is the home of an online eco art shop that sells handmade jewelry made from recycled aluminum cans.
  • Etsy, the site that features the Funky Recycling shop, was mentioned in the Wall Street Journal as “a relative newcomer whose smart web design and community-driven focus has transformed it into the handcrafter’s Amazon.com.”
  • The recycled aluminum can jewelry that is sold on the site is called “funky junq.”
  • The Etsy team is located near Vegas, so you may see them there at nearby festivals and fairs selling their funky junq.
  • The aluminum cans are hand-picked from school trash cans, sporting events and even the side of the road (don’t worry…they’re cleaned).
  • Slight imperfections like scratches and dents make each piece of jewelry unique.

Here are 3 cool recycled aluminum can products that are offered on Funky Recycling:

Red Bull Hello Kitty Necklace

Hello Kitty goes green with the help from a Red Bull.

Dr. Pepper Star Earrings

Dr. Dre is not the only star endorsing cans of Dr. Pepper.

Funky Junq Kid Recycled Soda Pop Can Jewelry Pin Brooch

Become a kid again and “stick it” to the man…just like these soda cans did.

Isn’t it great to see something as simple as a soda can transform into a complex piece of art? Of course it is, so if you’re interested in purchasing some funky junq that’s sold on the site, check out the Funky Recycling home!

This is totally up our alley.

This is Andy Warhol taken to a new level!

I love it- it uses the same detritus that it shows off to make the art. Very cool.
