Celebrate [Recycling], Come on!

There’s a Party Going on [the Web], a [Recycling] Celebration to Last Throughout the Years

Yes, yes I know. Kool & The Gang’s true version of “Celebrate” is way better than my made-up shenanigans above. But, who cares, because I want to celebrate to my little green heart’s content. And what shall I celebrate? RECYCLING!

Want to join? It’s not hard. Just throw your hands in the air and wave ‘em around like you just don’t care… and then reach down and pick up some empty pop can bottles. Now, put them in the recycle bin.

Wasn’t that fun?

Well, if partying with pop bottles isn’t quite your style, how about a little enthusiast recycling reading material? Yes? All right then. For you I have pulled a list of delightful websites from Care2 that discuss and celebrate recycling. I’ve selected 10, but there are many more, and you can get the full scoop by visiting here.

  1. Earth 911 - “Earth911.com is your one-stop shop for all you need to know about reducing your impact, reusing what you’ve got and recycling your trash.”
  2. EPA - This is a great website with a ridiculous quantity of information on everything you could ever want to know about recycling (and everything else related to the environment).
  3. Freecycle - This one’s my favorite: “The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,852 groups with 6,691,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills.”
  4. National Recycling Coalition - “The National Recycling Coalition (NRC) is a national non-profit advocacy group with members that span all aspects of waste reduction, reuse and recycling in North America. The Coalition represents advocates from every region of the country, in every sector of the waste reduction field.”
  5. Recycle City - This place is super cool and great for kids. You’ve got to check it out. “The Recycle City Web site is a project of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Region 9 office in San Francisco.”
  6. Recycle Now - “The Sonoma County Waste Management Agency provides a hotline to answer questions about waste reduction and recycling. Messages or questions can be left at any time and your call will be returned.”
  7. The Internet Consumer Recycling Guide - “This recycling guide provides a starting point for consumers in the USA and Canada searching the net for recycling information. The information is for regular folks with regular household quantities of materials to recycle. The goal is to help make recycling so easy and automatic that it blends into the flow of everyday life.”
  8. Green Dot Dual System - It’s a German recycling system and has become a way of life. Very, very cool.
  9. EPA Waste - More EPA goodness. Lots of recycling info and a great history section - just in case you’re curious about pollution and recycling from years ago.
  10. At The Workplace - That’s right, you can recycle at work too - it’s not just a home thing.

Enjoy!
