Out with the old and in with the new!
Made a New Year’s resolution yet? No? Well then it’s time to get one that you can keep.

This year, plan to conserve the resources around you. It’s not that hard to do—I’ll even get you started with tips from Comcast and Werievents. Here are a few of my personal favorites:
- Only heat the rooms you’re going to use.
- Use portable heaters and turn down the central heat.
- Cover windows with plastic sheeting.
- Dress in layers and keep the heat a notch cooler.
- If financially able, replace appliances, shower heads and toilets with energy efficient models.
- Compost food waste rather than throwing it away.
- Soak heavily greased and “food-stuck” dishes before washing them.
- If you have a fish tank, after changing the water dump it on your plants or garden.
- Throw used tissues in the trash, not the toilet.
- Avoid watering your garden and lawn when it’s a windy day—the wind can blow away your water or evaporate it.
I guarantee you that you can do at least half of these with minimal effort. Up to the challenge?
