Where to go for a delicious Thanksgiving meal if it’s not at your house!

Last week, TwoGirlsGoGreen did a posting on the unhealthy side of Thanksgiving meals. This week, we bring you a little bit of info on where to eat a delicious, healthy holiday meal if you don’t feel like making it yourself.
While researching online, I found a great website that categorizes restaurants based on organic status and dietary needs (gluten free, raw, etc.). Super easy to use and understand – all you have to do is plug in your state and category and away you go!
Here’s a sampling of my results (although it appears to be a wee bit too early for some Thanksgiving-specific information…):
Georgia – Bacchanalia (organic)
Thanksgiving menu TBD.
Michigan – The Montague Inn (organic)
They have a delicious Thanksgiving buffet. Check out the menu here.
New York – Beacon Restaurant (organic)
Menu’s been released, and it looks amazing! And the venison entree… oh! I’d eat it!
North Carolina – Twig (organic)
Thanksgiving menu TBD.
Washington, D.C. – Nora (organic)
Check it out: Nora was America’s FIRST certified organic restaurant. Pretty cool, huh? Not sure if they do Thanksgiving or not, but from the looks of their regular menu I sure hope so!

Using the website linked above, Organic Highways, isn’t the only way to find great restaurants serving Thanksgiving specials in your area. Simply visit your favorite search engine, plug in your city and the words “restaurant” and “Thanksgiving” and you’ll be greeted with a whole host of options. Pick a couple that you’re interested in and give them a call to ask about their sustainable practices and offerings.
Whether you make it yourself or have a chef prepare it for you, you can absolutely have an eco-friendly Thanksgiving meal.
Enjoy, and best wishes for a happy, thankful holiday!
