Waste Management Inc. has launched a new Web site.

Greenopolis.com is designed as an online meeting place for the environmentally conscious and includes features commonly found on social networking sites, such as the ability for members to create profiles or keep track of peers.

Houston-based Waste Management's (NYSE: WMI) new site also offers online tools for community action groups and provides local environmental services directories.

"As businesses identify more way to reduce their carbon footprint, this Web site is a terrific way for them to connect with potential partners and customers," said Joe Laur, director of content at Greenopolis.com.

Other features include the Green Broadcast System, a streaming news application and Free'N, a materials exchange that helps members locate and exchange items rather then throwing them away.
