Online Safety Tips

Do's and Don'ts

Don't give out personal information. Be wary of revealing your address or phone number to anyone. Encourage others to communicate with you through private messages, instant messaging, or email. Also, Don't include your name, address, or other information in your user ID.

Do meet people in a neutral location. If you are meeting someone in person whom you met online, it's safest to meet them in a public location, preferably during daylight hours. If you do meet someone at night, select a well-lit location that has a lot of traffic, even late.

Do tell someone, a friend or a family member, where you are going and when to expect you back. If you can find someone to go with you, that's even better. Safety in numbers!

Do use common sense. Every guide to online safety agrees that this is the single best way to stay safe. So use your intuition or gut instinct. If something doesn't feel right to you, consider why this is the case. Is there something strange about your interaction with this person? Perhaps you should reconsider your meeting, or change it to a safer location.

Most importantly, Do have fun. Free'N Exchange is a great resource, and it can be very enjoyable and rewarding if you take a few simple precautions.

And please, Don't use Free'N Exchange if you're under the age of 18. You must be 18 years old (US majority age of consent for legal contracts) or older to use Free'N Exchange.

Have fun, and stay safe!
