chic design
The cool blue color of the dial is a cute touch. When we bought this, it streamlined a lot of the hook-ups to our home theater system. Fewer wires is always a best bet for safety and efficiency. It doesn't get hot like our old receiver did, so we don't ave to waste energy plugging in an additional fan.
I think this is a bit big
I think this is a bit big and bulky it has nice features but you can find them in quite a few other home theater systems as well. And i think it's better to just rewire your house with smart outlets that power off anything plugged in if not in use rather then taking up power we have two projectors along with 7.1 surround in a room and when not in use it's not taking up any power the outlets don't receive any until we flip the switch.
Kill Switch!
If they keep making products that really turn off, it's going to mess up all of my plans!!!!!!
Moohoo... Moohoooah ha ha!!
Great point.
Why I like this product
First, I have owned Harman Kardon before and their products last a long time (which equates to less frequent trips to the landfill or electronics recycling company).
Second, Harman does not follow the "more watts are better" philosophy. This unit has a total maximum output of 150 watts if all channels are operating at full volume. Other amps in this category will have more output wattage which has the effect of generating a lot of waste heat.
Some amps will also will use significant energy depending on the volume and number of channels, but not this one. Energy usage is dependent on the number of channels and volume.
Also, this unit has a power kill switch which means it uses 0 watts when powered off, unlike many units which still use 1-2 watts when "off".
