Lynden Transport First Alaska-Based Trucking Company to Join EPA's SmartWay Environmental Partnership
Company rated 'exceptional' in fuel efficiency and environmental performance
(CSRwire) ANCHORAGE, Alaska, Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Lynden Transport announced today
it has joined the SmartWay Transport Partnership, becoming the first and
only Alaska-based trucking company to qualify. Lynden Transport received
the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) highest score of 1.25, or
"Outstanding," in the Shipper Index Factor which assesses fuel and fleet
efficiency and environmental performance.
The SmartWay Transport Partnership is a collaboration between the U.S. EPA
and transportation companies to voluntarily improve fuel efficiency and
reduce air pollution from freight transport. Partners with high scores are
already utilizing most of the commercially available fuel saving strategies
and evaluating the latest emerging technologies. Partners with scores of
1.25 are awarded the honor of displaying the SmartWay Transport Partner
logo, the EPA's symbol of superior fuel efficiency and environmental
performance.
"We have been working 'green' for quite some time, and it's gratifying to
see our long-term efforts recognized by the EPA," says Lynden Transport
Director of Health, Safety and Environmental Steve Schultz. "Earlier this
year, Lynden launched its own corporate Green Initiative to improve the
environmental performance of our fleet and operations. We know our
customers are concerned with these issues, and we are committed to finding
new and cleaner ways to work. "
Many companies use SmartWay partners exclusively for transportation and
other needs. Lynden Transport is now listed on the SmartWay website,
flagged as a top scorer for exceptional environmental performance.
Lynden Transport is part of the Lynden family of companies, whose
combined capabilities include: truckload and less-than-truckload
transportation, scheduled and charter barges, rail barges, intermodal bulk
chemical hauls, scheduled and chartered air freighters, domestic and
international air forwarding, international ocean forwarding, customs
brokerage, trade show shipping, remote site construction, sanitary bulk
commodities hauling, and multi-modal logistics. Lynden companies are
repeat winners in the annual Quest for Quality customer service awards
presented by Logistics Management magazine.
