Nestlé’s 100% Recyclable Christmas Gift
August 11th, 2009 - By making a simple change, Nestlé has made the packaging of this year’s Christmas candy selection boxes 100% recyclable. As a result, the winter treat will ship lighter too.
Last year Nestlé cut excess packaging, shrinking the boxes by 40% while keeping the candy the same size. This year the candy maker will save 200 tons of packaging compared to 2007 by just replacing the plastic insert trays with a paper-based display card instead. The weight of the largest box will be reduced by an additional 20%.
Nestlé published its first ever global sustainability report in 2008.
