Stanford MBAs Win CSR Case Competition at Rotman School.

(CSRwire) TORONTO, CANADA – November 26, 2008 - A team of MBA students from the Stanford Graduate School of Business have won the 3rd Annual Rotman Net Impact Corporate Social Responsibility Case Competition. During the competition, held on November 22 at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, thirty-three student teams from universities across North America competed to solve a business challenge using social and environmental factors in addition to the bottom line.

The team of Roy Raanani, Michael Ovadia, Jamie Perencevich, and Ryan Lippert from Stanford placed first with a team from the Queen's School of Business coming in second. Two teams from the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University tied for third. The case was based on challenges facing Westport Innovations, a Canadian company that develops Liquefied Natural Gas engines.

"It was a very energizing day. Today's business students are clearly excited to involve CSR as a critical element in their decision making"," says Daniel Ludwin, competition chair and Rotman MBA student. "I wish to thank our sponsors as well as those from the business and social sectors who volunteered their time as judges."

The day-long competition also featured a keynote address from Hugh MacLeod, Head of the Ontario Climate Change Secretariat.

The event was sponsored by UBS Securities Canada Inc., RPO Management Consultants and the Rotman School's AIC Institute for Corporate Citizenship as well as GlaxoSmithKline, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce and Bullfrog Power.
