Transparency International and Enablon Join Forces to Help Companies Combat Bribery
European Launch of Enablon Anti-Bribery Software
(CSRwire) BERLIN AND PARIS. - October 7th 2008 - Transparency International (TI), the
global anti-corruption coalition and Enablon, the leading provider
of corporate responsibility management software, today announced the
European launch of Enablon's Anti-Bribery System (ABS), a web-based
anti-bribery self-evaluation tool for companies that want to prevent
bribery in their operations.
Presented today at an event held in conjunction with the Ethical
Corporation Anti-Corruption Summit Europe in The Hague – The
Netherlands, Enablon ABS was developed in conjunction with TI. An
interactive software program intended for internal use, Enablon ABS
provides a way for companies to appraise the strength, completeness and
effectiveness of the company's anti-bribery policies and procedures and to
identify ways to improve current programs and processes. The program is
based on best practices set out in TI's Business
Principles for Countering Bribery and their self-evaluation
framework for anti-bribery.
The Enablon ABS European launch comes 6 months after the World Premiere
launch in Chicago.
"Bribery is a risk that companies cannot afford to ignore," said Jermyn
Brooks, Director Private Sector Programs, at TI. "There is substantial
evidence that many companies fail to implement their anti-bribery policies
adequately. Enablon ABS is a vital tool for companies wishing to assess the
adequacy of their anti-bribery systems and provides a strong foundation for
continuous improvement. We are delighted that Enablon's software has helped
produce a robust solution."
Companies that set up an anti-bribery program can manage risks more
effectively and improve their operational efficiency. The first step is to
translate values and policies that underpin an anti-bribery program into
operational objectives and measurable indicators. This will allow
companies to embed their anti-bribery program into core operations, share
best practices, and track progress towards real results for countering
bribery.
"Enablon ABS is a great tool to help Ethics & Compliance Officers build
and improve their global anti-bribery programmes effectively" said Annette
Stube, Director, Global Business Ethics Development, Novo Nordisk.
Chris Trinder, Group Marketing Director, Mott MacDonald, the UK
management, engineering and development consultancy added, "it also offers
essential know-how and expertise for training employees on anti-bribery
practices."
Enablon ABS offers diagnostic functions that will enable users to identify
risks and areas for improvement. It provides potential solutions through
access to expert knowledge and aims to assist companies in strengthening
their anti-bribery systems. Enablon ABS is immediately available.
TI, the global NGO dedicated to combating corruption has developed a suite
of publicly available tools to help business develop more comprehensive and
robust anti-bribery programs. These tools, which are based on the Business
Principles for Countering Bribery, include guidance on the detailed
implementation of anti-bribery programs.
