August 12th, 2009 - Does it make sense to use broadband and communications infrastructure to support a national smart energy grid? Nick Sinai, venture capitalist and former VP of an algae biofuel startup, has joined the FCC to think about it, reports Earth2Tech.

To build a national energy system that looks different than the current one, new infrastructure will obviously be needed. It’s good to see the FCC appoint an Energy and Environmental Director who intends to consider carefully how the current infrastructure (both physical and legal) can help support a long term sustainable energy system.
