Yum! Brands honored for "Earth Week" Campaign
August 3, 2009 - Yum! Brands has received the "Innovation Program Award" from ESM for their 2008 Earth Week program, designed to reinforce the connection between employee behavior, business sustainability and the environment.
Yum! Brands, the parent company of KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and Long john Silver's, designed their "2008 Earth Week" program to educate and empower employees on actions they can take, personally and professionally, to improve business sustainability and reduce environmental impact. A few highlights of the campaign are: daily emails to all employees promoting awareness of the company's sustainability initiatives, instituting a unified recycling system, a trivia contest based on Yums! Green initiatives, educational luncheon sessions ("Lunch and Learn") and green teleconferences for employees to learn about sustainable practices in other corporate locations.
While the Employee Services Management Association (ESM) has recongnized Yum! Brands for other innovative campaigns, this is their first award in the sustainability space. In fact, they released their first CSR Report in the 4th quarter of 2008. Earlier this year, Yum! Further cemented it's commitment to sustainability by opening the first green KFC-Taco Bell in the country.
