More and more people are asking for fireworks with less of an impact on the environment, and researchers are working hard to meet this demand. In case you were wondering, those big exploding things in the sky aren't exactly good for the planet. Scientists agree that a small handful of fireworks displays over the course of the year do not have too much of a long-term impact (though the short term impact is quite measureable). » read more »
Energy Independence Submitted by bobferris on Thu, 07/03/2008 - 1:14pm.
My great-great, etc. grandfather was a fellow named Lewis Morris. And Lewis was a principled guy who roughly 232 years ago signed a document that materially changed his life and the world. He and the other signers of this declaration were tired of being oppressed. They saw a wrong in their world and publicly and at great personal risk drew a line in the sand. » read more »

Scuffy the Tugboat's Nightmare Submitted by GreenHomeLady on Thu, 07/03/2008 - 8:20am.
Monday morning is like no other morning at my beach. Only Monday has such a diverse mountain of paraphernalia left behind by yesterday’s crowd. Who are they that walk off leaving their $49 chaise lounge in the sand? Or their shoes? It would cross my mind to ask myself, “Wasn’t I wearing shoes when I last walked across this parking lot?” »
Dumpster Diving & Recycling in the Burbs Submitted by Nancy Brow... on Wed, 07/02/2008 - 8:17pm.
As my neighbor pulled up to the Safeway parking lot in her BMW convertible, she scoffed at me while I schlepped over to the recycling center; plastic bags in tow, dripping trails of soda and dripping my own sweat from the heat. What had I gotten myself into? I'm a semi-green, cotton grocery bag toting, suburban mom. » read more You can reuse your very own house items! Submitted by Go_Green_C... on Wed, 07/02/2008 - 4:00pm.

Sustainable Energy - Without the Hot Air Submitted by Liv Greene on Wed, 07/02/2008 - 2:24pm.

MacKay, a Cambridge professor. The text can be found at withouthotair.com. The book is almost 400 pages long, but the good news is that if you aren't quite up to this challenge, MacKay also provides a four page summary of his work, which I think is defintiely worth a read. » read more Go Outside and Play! I've seen Office Depot Start to carry recycled supplies.. that's good because all the notebooks we've used up and thrown away, is a waste of trees! Grad Recycled sells spiral notebooks, I'm not sure about pencils and what not; however, i have also seen pen's and pencils recycled in Office Depot, maybe our world is changing.. day by day! Keep your eye out for these things, if possible, try to recycle more :) »
