Students for Solar Schools

The Students for Solar Schools initiative is a purely student-run
campaign to engage schools in the renewable energy movement. Plain and
simple, SSS works towards getting solar panels on school campuses for
environmental, economic, and educational benefits. The very first
school that SSS will work with is Westlake High School in Westlake
Village, California. SSS plans to expand (in a completely carbon
neutral manner) to schools around Ventura Country and even the nation.
The idea of sustainable schools has been relatively ignored by most
state and federal proposals, that is why it is up to the students to
create the change they seek.

The purpose of Students for Solar Schools is to unite student
leaders and school environmental groups with the common goal of
advocating for solar panels on schools. However, a successful solar
panel installation marks not the end, but the beginning of a larger
journey. Solar panels are a powerful symbol for environmental
conservation. Their inspirational potential needs to be utilized to
catalyze less glamorous efficiency improvements at schools and attract
greater publicity to the importance of school sustainability.

I can't think of a better way to raise awareness. A solar college,or any school of that matter, would be a perfect place. I still think all building structures in need of energy should have solar pales, but the sad truth is that is not a reality yet.I mean lets face it, students are always looking to better themselves with advancements in there own learning as well as new technology.Going green in general is the fore front.

Student + Learning x New Green technology =Great model for a future healthy planet.
