"The Audacity of Change"
A little food for the mind... Change. What is it? what does it mean to you, your family, your neighbor, your children? How about hope? Ring a bell? these are all campaign "hot words" as I call them. Words that reach out to each individual person. It means something different to everyone. It could mean the war, health care, housing, etc. Such words mean so much to people, but not necessarily to leaders. We all have seen change in our government by now, especially being spending. that's change. heavily taxing the people who create jobs, aka "rich people". that's change. How about redistribution of wealth? Abortion? The war? In a previous forum, which is still active, I talk about Obama's focus. I asked the community what they thought. thus far, only one person has shared his opinion. This is disappointing. I thought people would jump at the chance to analyze our current situation. So see if as a united people, we can propose a solution to the people who claim to represent us. I think that in these trying times, we do need to change; for the better. We need to restore the core values of our founding documents to the way our government is run. We know these documents work. Democracy works. We just need to oust the people (ie congress) who got us into this mess, let alone re-elect them so they can prolong our problems. We need to be educated enough to be able to fill out our ballot based on what we know about an elected-official-to-be. We need to be confident that he/she can hold your best interests as a community to heart rather than their paycheck. We know how bad things are, we have thinner wallets, legalized murder, governmental irresponsibility, and to top it off, a president who we don't know was ever born in the US. It is not by job though to tell you this. That's the newspaper's job. My job is to get people aware. Get people motivated in the America we know. The America that is run by the people and for the people.

Rich people get rich by harvesting money from an economic system. The more money they harvest, the less money there is for everyone else. So rich people actually cost us jobs. If I am wrong please educate me.
On average, CEOs in this county make rough 400 times what their lowest paid employee makes. If we cut that money in half that would be 200 more jobs for every CEO. The alternative is to tax them fairly and use that money to create new jobs or provide incentives for new industries that actually do create jobs.
I suspect that you'll counter with the old rationale that spending by rich people is really what creates the economy which really makes no sense either because a lot of their spending on high end luxury products benefits very few people.
Again, Openmind, this website is about sharing ideas and vision and not a site for you to layout a tired and failed political agenda.

I guarantee that you were told that fact.
Might I ask who's salary that is?
I don't want to dig up BS from the bailouts, but you can talk to Chris Dood about those salaries.
However, you cannot attack the people making money. How else are jobs created? People have a business model, they put it into commerce, and then they hire people as their company grows.
Furthermore, in this economy, which by this point Obama owns the economy and its deficit, no one would dare take risks. But look at the fledgling America. We were founded on risks. People cannot be afraid to fail for doing the right thing. Making lawful and honest decisions on behalf of the people.
I suggest Mr. Ferris, that you look a little closer in that "library or two" of yours and see if you can find the Constitution. Or even better! The Declaration of Independence.
You made the statement that rich people make jobs. You have been asked to back up that statement yet have not.
Was I told that fact? In part, I read it somewhere and also did research. Further, I took both macro and micro economics in college and learned how to interpret and research.
You need to study what is going on better. There are industries out there that are thriving. I am associated with the Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibilities and their membership that focuses on the triple bottom-line of economics, environment, and social equity are among the most successful businesses in the state and, in some instances, the nation.
And stop with the declaration and constitution blather. I am a direct descendent of a signer of the declaration and my great-great-etc. uncle was one of the drafters of the constitution. Further, their grandson and great nephew respectively fired cannons from Fort McHenry on US citizens in defense of the constitution during the civil war.

I am honored to hear about your relationships to our founders as well as their service to Fort McHenry. God Bless them for teir service to our country.
However, I don't think it takes a (complete) college degree to understand what is happening around him.
Lately, it has come to my attention that extremely large corporations have fallen victim to corruption and dsihonest practices. I think those who are not playing by the rules shouldnt be given millions becuase they are deemed "to big to fail". I'd like to focus on the people who are classified as "rich" for owning a small business. Once you hit that mark, in my opinion, you are told to play by a new set of rules, as in where you are not allowed to recieve funds such as from the stimulus checks for example. I don't believe the stimulus was a good idea. But the "rich" are the ones paying into the system. So either tell us you are redistributing our money or control your spending!
Furthermore, I think it is shameful to treat the foundation of our great country with such "blather". Just today I hear a sound byte of Nancy Pelosi responding to a man who dares to question whether heathcare reform was constitutional; as she responds "are you serious?"
This goes to show how different people precieve the role of government. I may not agree with you or Pelosi about the constitution, but that doesnt mean you should try to make The Constitution or the Declaratiob any less than it is- the magnanimous documents that are responsible for the best country on earth, and that is the United States.
