how to spend less than $4 on Gas

You can stop spending $4 on gas at the pump . . . here is how
1.) Walk or Bike. Pay nothing at all for gas! Walk or ride your bike, if you can obviously. It keeps you fit, saves on gas, and reduces your carbon footprint, and greenhouse gas emissions. Just be sure to take the weather, it might not be a good idea on really hot days, or really cold days, be sure to check air quality as well. 2.) Take public transportation. It costs money. So what. I am sure if you spent a week taking the bus or train, and a week driving to work, it would probably cost less in the end with public transportation. In addition, if you think about it, you have already put money into and have paid for the public transportation system through taxes. You are also reducing the wear and tear on your car, and reducing your own carbon footprint.
3.) Carpool. What better way to save on gas and get to know the people you work with better than carpooling? It even has its own special lane on the highway sometimes. The more people in the car, the less it costs per person, even if you have to drive a few miles out of your way to pick someone up, I am sure you will save at least half on gas. 4.) Buy a fuel efficient car. If your car goes twice as a far (or more) on one tank of gas in a new fuel efficient car rather than your old gas guzzler, why the hell not. It will pay off it self in x amount if years, especially as gas costs continue to rise. If you cannot afford a new car but are getting a used car, do your research so you get the most fuel efficient one possible. And just think, if you carpool in a fuel efficient car, your price per person will be almost nothing! 5.) Drive better. Brush up on your driving habits in order to save on gas. - Observe the speed limit. - Try not to make sudden stops or fast starts. - Keep moving, don't idle.
- Use the AC efficiently such as when on the highway, but use open windows when your driving is more stop and go. - Combine errands. If you need to hit many stores in one plaza, park in the center and walk to all of them instead of driving to each one. - Take unnecessary item out of the trunk. If your car is carrying excess weight, it is wasting more gas. - Don't tailgate. It makes you use the brakes and accelerator a lot more than you would have to if you were at a safe distance from the car in front of you. 6.) Properly maintain your vehicle. - Don't coast on the brakes, let your left foot rest on the floor instead of the brake and learn to break more efficiently. - Avoid long warm-ups in the winter. Your car really only needs a minute or two, not 5-10. - Keep your tires inflated properly, under-inflated tires waste fuel. Also make sure they are properly aligned. - Get regular tune ups and oil changes, your car will run better and waste less gas. - Check and replace your air filters regularly. 7.) Pay cash. Some credit cards charge you for use at the pump. In addition, some gas stations now have a discount when you use cash. I passed a station the other day that was 6 cents less if paying in cash. 8.) Use your groceries to get discounted gas. Some grocery stores are now offering incentives on their receipts that off cents off when you fill up at certain gas stations. You can save anywhere from 10 cents a gallon and up! (Such as Price Chopper and Shaw's here in the Northeast.)
Hope these help!
