There is a new word popping up around the country: Clirty.  And what it means is that it isn't exactly clean, but it is not fully dirty either.  Of course this word has great application in the world of laundry, because clirty things should get an extra wearing or two before taking a trip to the washer and then hanging out on the line.  (Didn't he mean to say dryer?) No, I meant the line.  While you are trying out the clirty habit you might as well go whole hog and have your dryer become a seldom used appliance for touch ups or when the weather won't let you hang your once clirty clothes out in the breeze.

I live in Clirtyville. My water glass is clirty. My towel is clirty. My closet has a whole section of clirty. Thanks to somebody for acknowledging us - the citizens of Clirtyville.

When it finally is laundry day, nothing says solar power like a clothes line.

Flirting with "clirty!"

Guess I've been flirting with "clirty" my whole life!! I have no qualms about wearing the same clothes over and over, unless I've gotten them so dirty, it's obviously time for a cleaning! Most of my childhood and teens we didn't have a dryer...and I haven't lived with washer or dryer for over 20 years (though I could afford them). I have no problem with stretching my wardrobe out with multiple wearings and only visiting my local (and only), laudrymat about every 3 to 4 weeks. I maximize my time by doing other errands in the area while the load is in the washer, come back and switch things to the dryer, and head off on some more errands. Afraid our town "frowns upon" clotheslines if we live on the main streets ...not exactly a "law", but not appreciated...weird!
I love the smell of line-dried clothes, towels and sheets!

Ironic

It is ironic that towns have rejected the age-old clothes line and identified it as undesirable, but do not object to clothes dryers that spew out an offensive fog of fabric softener that impacts the chemically sensitive and the general waste of power at a time when nearly every single informed being is decrying unnecessary energy use.

Perhaps flapping clothes bespeak poverty and blight to some, but I rather hear the snapping of linens than be assaulted by scents that cause headaches and dull the senses.

That sounds perfect. I never

That sounds perfect.

I never understood why people needed to have everything so clean all the time.

I always wear my clothes at least twice before washing them, unless I happened to get really messy with my dinner or something.

I hope the idea catches on a bit.

Though I must admit the world sounds a teeny bit dirty, in a different sense, haha.

I still would not buy one darn thing from the Neiman Marcus Christmas Catalog.  It takes pretentious to the next level.  How can anyone justify spending $73,000 on a cell phone studded with 7.2 carats of white and pink diamonds?  Or buying your ...
