Never Mind the Distractions
Submitted by bobferris on Thu, 05/29/2008 - 7:09pm.
I worked in Washington DC for nearly 12 years. Too long by any count, but my mind will still grabs at threads of my old life. It is seductive to wrestle with the scandals and see certain folks get their just desserts, but it is no longer were the action is or should be. These are distractions that push us away from dealing with real issues in our very real lives. Soap Operas is what they really are and they mesmerize and captivate us into a suspended state of virtual unconciousness. So instead of watching the news tonight, I walked down to the river and sat in a hammock and focused on the world around me. What could I do in my life to make my river cleaner? How could I help folks to drive less and give me a quieter place to read and think? All of us should start to think thoughts like these. So take some time away from the distactions and focus on what matters and what you can within your relative reach to make the world a little better and a little more sustainable. (1 vote) »

This is a great
This is a great idea...everyone should take time out of the day to relax and focus on the real things that matter to them in their lives...not all the Soap Opera drama that floods our minds. By doing this, we might just see things a little clearer.
Good thoughts...
Good thoughts, Bob...
Hope more of us can get to that place and help the rest do the same.
Thank you...
