Wake up-smell the climate change coffee.

Every so once in a while I run into some one who absolutely does not believe that climate change is upon us. There beliefs are so strong that they will argue strongly that it does not exist, that the science is inconclusive,or even if it does exist it is not our fault. What those folks should consider is that the world burns something close to a cubic mile of oil each year and we have done that for a while. We also burn coal, wood, and agricultural wastes. And our garbage dumps, cows and other activities add to the human-caused airborne load of methane and other greenhouse gases. How could all of this not have an impact or even if global warming were part of a natural cycle how could all of this not make it worse? (3 votes) »

The planet is a living organism
Global climate change IS upon us. People like me believe in that. We just don't believe in global warming. So I partially agree with you. The planet is a living organism, and with all living things, it will heal itself before it dies.
Take a look at this site it gives a great example of the planet healing itself.

Think Black!
Yes it is....
The article you submitted, while dated, actually makes my point rather than yours. This article deals with a single class of chemicals: CFCs. When they were banned and we greatly lowered the number being injected into the atmosphere, the ozone layer was able to assimulate some CFCs and lower the overall level of CFCs in the atmosphere. The same was true for nitrogen in the Chesapeake Bay during the drought several years ago when the rains were not sufficient to wash nitrogen deposited on the land into the Bay. And then the rains came and things were even worse than they had been for a time.
The point is that we are putting greenhouse gases (carbon dioxide, methane, etc.) into the atmoshere at a rate much greater than they can be dealt with via natural systems. Until we figure this out and change our behavior things will likely get worse. And, yes the Planet may not die, but humans are not necessary for the Planet to remain alive. Think about that.
