I'm not sure how green his is, but for the new year, I decided to become a vegetarian. I thought this was good so now I won't be eating any poor animals that could be living if I wasn't selfish enough to want to eat them. How green is this exactly? please post. (1 vote) »

Vegitarian +Meat= A healthier you
The human body needs some nutrients from meat to keep it healthy. Give it what it needs. I know you feel strongly against this and I understand how you feel. I once was a vegitarian. My body grew weak and sick beacasue of the lack of needed nutrients from the meat. You dont need to be a total pig with meat. Just eat enough to get what you need. I know you want to save our animal friends... I have an idea! Would you eat chemically grown meat. It sounds gross, but I read about it and it could save the lives of many of our friends. Any type of animal based food would help. Well think about it and send a reply back. I want to hear what you have to say. Bye for now.
best ever
- 2500gl of water goes into one pound of beef
- logically, its more efficient to eat the vegetation your self
- tons of more statistics i cant remember

Go Vegetarian!!!! Love, Me!!!
Just Because it Tastes good Doesnt make it Right!!!
you rule!!! vegetarianism takes real guts!! I had it easy and became vegetarian at a young age... add me!!Congrats on going veggie!!!
Congrats on going veggie!!! This is a VERY green step! The previous commenter said some good things about reasons to go veg. Take a look at these statistics:
"It currently takes between 43,000 to 63,000 square feet to feed a meat eating American for one year, 12,000 to 16,000 sqft to feed a Vegetarian and only 6,000 sqft to feed a Vegan."
I've been a vegan for a little over a year -- but that's a big step from being omni (what we veg's call meat-eaters). Look at what you're doing already -- freeing up 27,000 sqft of land! The quote that I posted goes on to say that by the year 2015, there will be only *9,000* square feet of farmable land per person on the planet - so as you can see, we need all the veg's we can get! :)
I don't think the industry surrounding meat etc. is healthy
Hi there, I usually don't eat meat, I sometimes eat fish or chicken, and I have major issues with the current state of the industry. If we raised our own livestock, then I feel it would be a personal choice, but there are many arguments against eating meat from an environmental perspective. Just the ratio of calories needed to create meat for human consumption vs. the calories one get's from it are staggering. I don't have any fancy numbers to quote, but I do know there is plenty of info out there to support being a vegetarian for environmental reasons.
