Battery Powered Yard Work
The new battery powered yard tools by Worx are great for reducing your personal GHG emission footprint. I saw an ad on TV about the new line of battery powered trimming tools and ended up getting a great deal on a package that included a string trimmer, edger, shrub trimmer and blower. The package included two batteries and a charger for $250, which included shipping. Today I used the tools for the first time and was very impressed. The batteries last a long time and the tools have impressive power, although they're not as strong as gas engine powered tools. It took me a little longer to do my trimming, but I loved the light weight of the tools and tha fact that I didn't have to mess with gas-oil combinations or electric cords. Best of all, I wasn't spewing out smelly emissions from a small, two-cycle engine that's loud and dirty. The Worx combo is very quite, light and has low vibration. It also takes grennery in small chunks, instead of whacking everything in its path, like a gas trimmer. It's virtually impossible to hurt yourself using these tools, so just about anyone can use them. I hate standard gas string trimmers because they eat up things that you don't want eaten and you can never keep the string in place and working properly. This Worx pakage has special line that feeds nicely and I didn't have to stop once to respool the line.
