Exxon Threatening Endangered Whales?

PrintPrintE-mailE-mail 0 comments

The leading environmental groups in Russia launched a lawsuit on Friday against the gas and oil giant, Exxon, for threatening the world's last Gray Whale population. There are only around 130 of this amazing species left in the world, and the pipeline that will be constructed in their habitat may hurt these numbers even further.

The Russian government has already approved the plans for the pipeline, but this lawsuit will hopefully cause some sort of injunction against the building of this pipeline.

The WWF has also sent a letter to the Natural Resources Minister of Russia to try to get the project stopped. The WWF, Greenpeace and the International Fund for Animal Welfare are all trying to get the pipeline re-routed to save the whale's habitat.

I do not know why Exxon keeps getting Carte Blanche to drill and lay their pipelines all over the world with no regard for nature? This is a common problem we are seeing in the U.S. where Americans have somehow been duped into thinking that by letting companies like Exxon drill offshore, in Alaska, and anywhere else they want to drill, we are somehow going to get lower gas prices and the economy will be fixed. Remember, the only ones that benefit from raping our natural resources and environment is the rapist.
