Primo Eco Friendly Bottled Water
Submitted by david d on Mon, 04/07/2008 - 10:13am.
The reason plastic water bottles are bad for the environment is because they are made from a petroleum based plastic that is taken from derivatives of crude oil & natural gasses. We all know that by conserving natural resources we are lessening the amount of use, and therefore conserving the rare natural resources that can take millions of years to regenerate. The Primo bottled water bottles water in a more eco-friendly bottle that is made from Ingeo(TM) natural plastic. This is the self proclaimed first and only performance plastic that is made form 100% renewable resources. These renewable resources are usually corn starch or sugarcane and are known as PLA or polylactide which is a biodegradable plastic. Hopefully this new product will start the ball rolling, causing more companies to start producing much more eco friendly product packaging. Primo says that if all PET plastic bottles made from crude oil were replaced with this new Inge(TM) natural plastic, Americans would save the equivalent of a billion gallons of gas each year.
