Have you ever noticed when walking around the neighborhood that very few people have their front door open. In the summer the AC is on and the houses are locked down. Specifically these newer developments since none of the houses are built with screen doors.

I live in Calif in a area that it consistently can reach 100 through the summer. We recently installed a innovative screen door system on all the doors and now use them everyday and have yet to use our AC.

Check it out - highly recommended:

It is a invisible screen system that retracts back into the door jam area which can be matched to the color of your house. They can also do windows.

What a great way to conserve and increase the value to your home.  Enjoy!

Reminds me of my grandmas house!

You are so Right!! So many of the new houses are not built with screen doors and I have seen some houses with windows that don't have screens! My grandma lives in a small trailer in Tennessee and she always sits on her porch and has the sceen door open and the windows all open. So there is such a nice breeze circulating throughout the house! I miss that, because where i live now is a rented home in an area that probally wouldn't be to safe to keep the windows open! I don't even have a sceen door! =(
But I do conserve energy by not stting the thermostate below 78! (I have to compromise with my fiance!)
