Greenopolis at GreenFest-wind blogging
In fifteen minutes Edison GreenFest student day begins in the courtyard, called "the quad" at Edison State College - Collier Campus. It's sunny and pleasant. Windy though. The table drapes are flapping. We're starting with the solar trailer, wind generator, and the automotive hydrogen fuel cell at the entrance. First things first. Students get free food if they visit these three booths right away. As for me, I'll be manning a table with an electric meter like the one on your house. Flip the switch to the right and power goes to a 60 w bulb and the meter wheel spins. Flip the switch to the left and the power goes to a CFL, and the meter wheel slows to a crawl. I put a 40w equivalent LED bulb in and the wheel didn't show movement. Instead I put the LED into a clamp on bed lamp and plugged it into our "Kill.O.Watt". It's using 1 watt of power.
