OK George Soros, Quit Playing Around

The stock market today is climbing and I’m happily watching my solar investments fly towards the sun at this hour.  (My wind investments aren’t flying so high.  Their turn will come on another day, I guess.)  My paper company is also doing well (surprising for an industry in decline).  Over time I’m working my way through my 401k stock ,gradually replacing investments.  I’m moving out of companies that are contrary to my personal beliefs (usually regarding the environment, not always) even when it means earning less in my 401k.  Yes, I’m self righteous and smug about it.

Today I read in a Fortune headline that billionaire financier George Soros admits some of his business investments contradict his personal views.  I’m not going to research about George's investments right now. We know they are gargantuan.  His comments in Fortune were related to coal investments.

We also know that he contributes enormously to causes he chooses to support.  It’s likely when George gives to his causes he feels good inside.  It’s a human trait except among the few who are truly humble.  Perhaps George and I are alike in our human failings.  That would also mean that George is cheerful when his stock holdings are going up.

I have to ask, "George, which is it?"  Are you rooting for the stock that contradicts your “personal beliefs?” Are you rooting for the cause that contradicts your investments? Or . . . are you just playing around with money and power while you're on the planet?
