The Next President Won't Be Alone

In a mere matter of hours, we will likely know the identity of the next President of the United States. Regardless of who is elected, there is no denying that he will face great challenges in dealing with issues like climate change and funding renewable energy in a downturned economy. Fortunately, he won't have to go it alone. In the weeks after being elected, the next President will announce the members of his Cabinet and administration, and these people will also have a great impact on the future of the environment.

While you're voting today (and do make sure that you vote) you should also consider some of these other folks that will play a role in shaping our future environmental policies. Fortunately, grist.com has done us all the favor of putting together the most likely names that Obama or McCain would choose for key posts like Secretary of Energy and EPA Administrator.

Pretty interesting list. Definitely some familiar faces (like Mr. Environment himself, Al Gore). In all the usual talk and mudslinging of a Presidential campaign, not enough attention is paid to these behind-the-scenes people who can really have a great impact on the President's decisions and policies.
