Sleep mode
Submitted by holamamaci... on Sat, 06/14/2008 - 2:11pm.
So, those of you who have ipods and ihomes and like to listen to music on your way to sleep and have it playing all night. if you do that every night your electric bill will go up $5.00. But there is a sleep mode. What this sleep mode does is it is timed for a certain amount of minutes ( your choice) and after those minutes are up it goes off and by that time you will be asleep. To use the sleep mode you go to settings and then go to clock. Scroll down to sleep timer. set if for however long you want I usually like 90 min. and then it is set all you have to do is set that every night and you electric bill will go down $5.00. (2 votes) »

I agree
While I don't fall asleep with my ipod or tv on, I think it is a great tip for those who do. It alwasy bothers me that people fall asleep with them on and leave them on for the entire night. Sleep mode helps eliminate that.
I think most people would be
I think most people would be surprised to know that even though the tv is off, it's still drawing electricity. What we need is a device on a timer that completely cuts off the flow of electricity, akin to unplugging the device.
Adding Surge Strips to all power center
I've been putting surge strips on all my "power cneters- like the TV?/DVD/satellite box group,The computers.monitor/peripherals/printer group . Then I can jujst switch off the surge strip- and everything is OFF. In the family room, I plugged the surge strip into the top outlet, which is switched at the wall- so i just flip the light switch and all the enetertainment stuff is on or off. Very cool, saving money and CO2.
